Abandoned development in downtown Santa Rosa.

A few years ago a developer bought some land just outside downtown Santa Rosa in the area of Railroad Square. There was an old warehouse on the three acres or so property that seemed very historic. The idea was to gut the warehouse and retain the outside walls as a facade.

There is a mall located two blocks away and this new spot would be even more retail space. As the economy took a dive the property and idea where left on hold. The project remains as a testament to small towns with big ideas, the economic climate changes and things start to fall apart.

On a foggy morning in Newport Beach I went for a walk with my camera. Living close to two schools in Newport means at around 8:00 in the morning the streets get packed with parents dropping off their kids. I'm only to assume the person in the VW bus wanted to avoid the traffic jam that ensues when heading out in Irvine Avenue at that time in the morning.

Some images appear unique when distorted. These two would not be so interesting if they were not reflected and stained.

These two images were taken through a window with brown paper lining the glass. The reflections turned out nice on such a bright and brisk winter day. The stains on the paper added alot of texture as well.

Mike blew my mind with how young he was and how epic his photos were, he was picking up work assisting and retouching at 18. I always like when people shoot portraits of photographers and I was really stoked to get this one of Mike D.

The flea market is always an amazing place to find interesting items juxtaposed with other interesting items. There becomes an amazing order to how items are displayed, most people that sell stuff at flea markets take pride in some the finds they are tiring to sell you. These little hooks are what pull you in.

Shot at a Steve Martin bluegrass show at the end of the night a rather large group of well dressed rich people make their way down the stairs at the Orange County Performing Arts Center.

The show was awesome, Steve Martin is a total performer and professional cornball. The banter between songs was very much a stand up act and his whole persona is very humble and of course he shreds the banjo.

I got these two portraits when my friend Jessica asked if I would help her shoot photos for a fashion show she was involved in.

The first photo is one of the models she was using in the show. The girl was waiting out front of the hair salon to get her hair sorted out. The other is this person who was at the event to assist in some way I'm not sure how, he reminded me of a door man from the 50s.

I was traveling through Europe on a skate trip and blew my knee in Berlin. I knew I had messed it really bad I could tell I tore my ligament and got very depressed. After leaving Germany we went on to France, we were staying in Paris just outside the main tourist area. Everyone would spend their days out skating and I would play tourist. In retrospect hurting myself on that trip actual allowed me to enjoy my time in Europe.

These photos were all shot on bulk rolled 35 movie film, that my friend Dylan Doubt gave me. I got the film cross-processed and the results were crazy lots of depth to and contrast with this crazy grain.

My friend Jessica works for Pants to Poverty: Ethical Fair Trade Pants (underwear) and she participated in the Ecologique runway show, asked me if I would shoot photos of the Pants models and document the show.

The show was in a a club in downtown San Diego and had all of these laser club lights going a nightmare I'm sure for people shooting with the intention of getting straight forward photos. I shot available light just messing around and got these images.

Phil Taylor performing for the Ofad Coming Of Age event at the Long Beach art space. For anyone who has the change to see him, Phil Taylor delivers through his performance the purest form of his power and light. I and the Ofad are very grateful to Phil for gracing our event with this presence.

I have seen Phil Taylor perform a number of times now and every time I'm always taken by the emotional level of what is going on; it's as if you cannot help but be disarmed by the power of what your seeing him do. There is a humility in his actions that resonates and commands your attention. As you watch him you get a sense that you are witnessing some sort of shamanistic ritual, an invocation or prayer taking place.

These photos were shot during a show we did in Long Beach at Eric Simpson's space on Nov.14, 2009.
The show was a group effort and consisted of friends and family of Ofad.

Matt has been a good friend for long time now. In knowing him over the years I have always been amazed at the pliability of his face and personality can take on. The above photos were shot in the summer of 2007 out in front the Grahn Street hose in Rosa, the dudes were skating the little grind box we had and I was healing from knee surgery.

The light was really good and Matt's face was epic, so I started shooting a bunch of photos. I came across these going through some old shit and had to put them up.

This is a photo of a builder named Steg and one of his custom bikes. Choppers were huge at this time and bikes were selling for the price of Italian super cars. It was most likely an outtake from the shoot but I can't remember. I shot it a few years back for Street Chopper magazine and came across it while searching my archives for something else.

La Montanitas is place located in northern ecuador. The very small village is literally its own country in a sense. There are no police and/or security, and you can basically you do anything you want as long as you do not harm fellow visitors. Truly a magical place.
